New Website

Today I release my new website. The old site was just over a year old. One year isn't a long time to us humans but in terms of internet styles and trends it's a millenium. Even though I was still gettting a good number of enquiries through the site, to me it looked old and worn out.

When I first put this design together, I was worried that it was too unconventional and not business-like enough to be promoting a web design business.

However, the general feedback has been great. Full transparency like this will be quite common in the near future as Internet Explorer 6 is slowly replaced by IE7 and Firefox. IE6 is a cancer to the World Wide Web. It doesn't support transparent PNG images, it doesn't understand web standards properly. It renders a lot of CSS elements differently to other browsers requiring silly code hacks to overcome. Anyway, that's a rant for another article.

I hope you like the new design.

Inspiration for this design came from.
  • www.rocketheme.com.au - The fantastic Replicant template which also offers transparency and a fixed background.
  • www.elliotjaystocks.com - Personal home page of Elliot Jay Stocks, Senior Designer at Carson Systems. Great look - kind a mix between grunge and web2. Love it.
